Massive police response

Dear ER:

The massive police response (helmets/body armor, helicopters, drones, police dogs, long guns) by multiple agencies was highly disproportionate to the type of crimes described as being attributed to these two guys [“Car chase leads to arrests following police containment of South Hermosa Beach, ” ER online Dec. 28, 2018]. I assumed on of them had shot at or threatened a cop.

Cat stands ground

Dear ER:

I saw the two guys jump the fence of my neighbors across the street. This was about 4:30 p.m. I yelled “that’s private property” and one if them said “Sorry, lady” [“Car chase leads to arrests following police containment of South Hermosa Beach,” ER online Dec. 28, 2018].

They crossed the street (Second Street) and ran up my neighbors’ driveway to backyard fences towards Third Street. One of them did have a backpack but I did not see any guns. Had a hard time calling 911, who seemed to know nothing about the incident at that time. My 20-pound cat hekd his ground.

California crime

Dear ER:

“Charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, evading arrest, resisting arrest and possession of dangerous drugs.” In California, that’s enough to get you jailed for an entire afternoon [“Car chase leads to arrests following police containment of South Hermosa Beach,” ER online Dec. 28, 2018].

Remembering Ganz

Dear ER:

Officer Ganz was my D.A.R.E. Officer in elementary school [“MBPD’s Martin Ganz remembered 25 years after his death,” ER Dec. 20, 2018]. I remember him well and still think of him. Unbelievable something like this happened in our little community. It hits especially close to home with friends and family in law enforcement who put their lives on the line everyday.
