Nose under the tent
Dear ER
The whole point of Hermosa Beach’s proposed parking changes is to remove the roadblock of parking from the proposed hotel on the Mermaid site (“Hermosa Council proposing relaxing parking requirements,” ER Aug. 12, 2021). If residents do not want Hermosa to turn into Huntington Beach or La Jolla, they need to contact all the city council members and tell them that. They are not representing your interests and you need to call them on it, or it will be too late. If councilmembers Stacey Armato and Justin Massey had any self respect they would have already resigned over the $1.2 millon gym lawsuit debacle. Only constant pressure from the residents can save Hermosa from the council.

A divided family
Dear ER:
I am currently in celebration mode as I read the increasing push-back in letters to the editor and newspaper columns from folks like me, and especially from the health care providers themselves, who are vaccinated and who soundly chastise those morons who are not or refuse to wear face masks. Maybe Darwin was right, survival of the fittest. Sadly that could also include my son and his wife who are still not vaccinated. My wife and I, both in our 70s, have told them that they are no longer welcome in our home until they are vaccinated. They and many others may unnecessarily pay a most painful price for their felony stupidity. Sadly, that’s their choice.

A divided city
Dear ER:
Herr Massey, et al, want to mandate vaccines in Hermosa Beach. What hypocritical politicians. Is the city council going to check all those who wander through the Fiesta del Artes over the Labor Day weekend? And what about the vomiting “ironmen” who were allowed to make deposits on our beach on the Fourth of July? Is the council concerned about the Hermosa residents or just themselves? We note the council still fails to show up in persion at City Hall for council meetings.

More division
Dear ER:
Friday early evening, my wife and I were enjoyed a walk on The Strand until we met the vagrant who is homesteading in the Second Street beach restroom area. I asked him how long he plans on loitering here. He yelled back “As long as I want, and there’s not a damn thing you can do about it.” Sadly, he may end up being right, if our District Attorney, city attorney, and city council continue to ignore this situation. If only it’s left to some of us caring citizens to do something, I am all in and open to suggestions. Why tolerate the degrading of Hermosa Beach, as this grows to dozens of other vagrants who discard trash, and trespass with emboldened confidence. Elected City council members, do not say there is nothing you can do..
