Hermosa Beach Police, and Los Angeles County Fire Fighters, and Lifeguards responded to a stabbing in the downtown Hermosa Beach parking lot on Saturday, at approximately 4 p.m.

Fire and lifeguard paramedics subsequently treated a man who appeared to be in his 20s, for a stab wound in his abdomen. The victim was transported to Harbor UCLA Medical Center.

A friend of the stabbing victim recounts the incident to the police.

A friend of the stabbing victim said the stabbing took place shortly after he, and the victim  returned to their SUV, after celebrating the victim’s birthday at a downtown bar. He said they were approached by two men who had parked their Jeep on the upper level of the parking structure.

The friend, who said he is a school district lifeguard from San Francisco, asked his name not be used. He said the men from the Jeep engaged him and his friend in a verbal altercation that  escalated to pushing, and shoving, resulting in his shirt being torn. The stabbing victim then accompanied the two alleged assailants to a lower level of the parking structure, where he was stabbed. He then stumbled back to the upper level, where he and his friend had parked their car.

The friend of the stabbing victim said he did not know why the victim accompanied his assailants to the lower parking level.

After the victim was taken away, and the first responders had left,  two women who had accompanied the alleged assailants returned to their Jeep.

The woman began screaming at the stabbing victim’s friend, accusing him and the stabbing victim of initiating the confrontation. One of the women said she had video of the stabbing victim carrying a baton.

The friend acknowledged his friend had a collapsible baton, but said the women’s friends had maced him.

The two women left the upper level without taking the Jeep, while the friend waited for Triple AAA to respond to his call. He was unable to find his keys. ER
