Manhattan Beach police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who last month used a counterfeit bill at a local business.

On March 5 at 8 p.m., a man entered Diane’s Swimwear in the Manhattan Village Mall and asked for the clerk’s help in selecting a beach bag. When the clerk rang the $28 item in the register, the man presented an obvious counterfeit $100 bill, according to police. When the clerk hesitated, he became verbally aggressive and demanded change. The clerk complied in fear of her safety, according to police.

Police on Wednesday released a surveillance video of the incident, which can be viewed here.

The perpetrator is described as a 25-year-old white male, approximately 6 feet tall and 170 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes and tattoos on his hands.

Anyone with information about this incident or the man involved is urged to call the MBPD tip line at 310-802-5171.
