
Led by champion Palos Verdes, the Bay League has four representatives competing in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 boys soccer playoffs
Palos Verdes (18-5-2) is ranked No. 9 and hosts Simi Valley (4-11-2) in the opening round on Friday while runner-up Mira Costa (13-5-3) travels to Riverside to face M.L. King (16-9-1).
Redondo (15-9-2) must travel up the coast to take on top-seeded Santa Barbara (16-4-4) and Peninsula (10-9-1) earned an at-large berth and hosts No. 3 El Toro (13-0-7).
In Division 4, Pioneer League champion West Torrance (17-3-2) earned the No. 2 seed and hosts the winner of Wednesday’s wild-card game between Saddleback and Sultana.
Ocean League champion El Segundo (16-2-3) hosts Valencia (10-4-3) and South Torrance (13-7) plays at Norwalk (13-5-1) in Friday’s first-round action.
In Division 6, Chadwick (6-3-1) plays at top-seeded South Pasadena (9-3-4).

PV girls earn fourth seed
Bay League champion Palos Verdes (17-4-2) earned the fourth seed in the CIF-SS Division 2 girls soccer playoffs and edged Corona 1-0 on a Jess Frost goal for a first-round win on Thursday.
The Sea Kings play at Westlake (11-1-6) in the seoncd round on Tuesday.
Bay runner-up Mira Costa (18-5-4) is seeded seventh and defeated visiting La Habra 2-1 on Thursday.
McKenna Doyle scored both goals for the Mustangs who outshot La Habra 15-2. Mira Costa will travel to face No. 10 Chapparal (15-2-7) on Tuesday.
Redondo (14-5-3) was shut out at Newbury Park 1-0 and Peninsula (12-6-3) gave top-seeded Oaks Christian all it could handle in a 1-0 loss. Bishop Montgomery (13-7-1) lost at No. 8 Northwood 1-0.
In Division 3, Pioneer League champion and fourth-seeded West Torrance (16-4-5) defeated Claremont 2-0. The Warriors will play at Lancaster (16-5-1) in the seocnd roundon Tuesday.
Torrance (18-3-1) beat Barstow 5-0 in its first-round game and will host Warren (18-3-3) on Tuesday.
South Torrance (17-7-3) lost at South Hills 1-0 and Chadwick (8-6-1) was eliminated by visiting Los Altos 3-0 in first-round competition.
In Division 4, El Segundo (8-5-6) lost at St. Margaret’s 2-0.
Coastal champion Vistamar (12-2-1) routed Ganesha 8-0 in the first round and will host St. Anthony (16-6-3) in the second round on Tuesday.
