Nunn makes the most of final prep game

Competing in his final game as a high school football player, Mira Costa’s Kyle Nunn made the most of his opportunity. Playing on his home field with the top senior players in the South Bay, Nunn was named the Offensive Player of the Game at the 45th Annual West Torrance Lions Club Senior All-Star Game.

Leading the Blue team to a 17-14 victory over the White squad, Nunn caught four passes for 79 yards, including a dazzling one-handed grab from West High quarterback Ron Clark in the second quarter that gained 50 yards.
After a 1-yard scoring run by El Segundo quarterback Mike Bundy, Redondo’s Ryan Hyman put the Blue team ahead 14-0 with a 15-yard touchdown run to complete the scoring in the first quarter.
Although the Blue team was loaded with players from CIF Western Division champion Mira Costa and CIF Northwest and State Division III champion Serra, the White stars remained in the game after neither team could muster any point in the second and third quarters.
After the White squad scored twice in the final frame, it took a 35-yard field goal from Carson kicker Juan Sanchez with 2:16 left to give the Blue team the victory.
Members of the Blue team from Mira Costa were Nunn, running back Morgan Reece, defensive back Rico Wright, along with linemen Andrew Brenner, Chad Jenson and Jordan Tavai.
Redondo was represented on the Blue squad by Hyman, defensive back Danny Marquez and quarterback Chris Mares.
