Redondo Beach Police wounded an assault suspect late Friday night in North Redondo.
According to a release from RBPD, officers responded to a family disturbance call on the 2100 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard at 11:37 p.m. on Friday night.
The responding officer encountered 54-year-old Redondo Beach resident Kermit Johnson outside of the scene. The shooting occurred shortly thereafter.
The report says that Washington suffered a gunshot wound to the hand, was arrested and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. A firearm was found at the scene, and none of the other occupants of the home were injured.
Johnson was released into police custody following release from the hospital and has been arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, carrying a concealed firearm and criminal threats. Bail is currently set at $150,000.
