Open house: paws for a cause

Silent auction items, pet behavior and communication specialists, cats and kittens will be on hand as veterinarian Alice Villalobos and the Peter Zippi Fund for Animals hold their 33rd anniversary Open House, Boutique and Adoption Day, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14 at VCA Coast Animal Hospital, 1560 Pacific Coast Highway in Hermosa Beach.
Silent auction and boutique items will include weeklong stays in condos in on Maui and Kona, one-of-a-kind jewelry; dining certificates for Hof’s House, Babouch, Java Man, Ocean Diner, Chicago Ribs, See’s Candies, AT&T phone cards, Pier 1 gift certificate, entertainment industry specials, tickets to the local Civic Light Opera, Pasadena’s Ice House, Los Angeles Zoo, San Diego Zoo or Wild Animal Park, Aquarium of the Pacific, Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, Pacific Park, LegoLand and the Richard Nixon Library, an 8GB iPod Nano, a photo shoot of your pet, antiques, and animal gifts.
Longtime animal communicator Stephanie Brown will be available at noon to “help your pet along its life journey.” At 1 p.m. animal behavior specialists Karen Sueda, a veterinarian, and David Dickey will discuss how to help pets who might have behavior problems.
The nonprofit Fund pays for medical treatment, shelter and adoptions of animals, and helps place kittens and cats in loving homes, keeping them until a match is made. For more see peterzippifund.com or call (310) 379-1264. ER
