Little Pink House Special screening at Regal theater

Two-time Oscar nominee Catherine Keener (Being John Malkovich, Capote) stars in “Little Pink House,” about which syndicated columnist George Will wrote, “‘Little Pink House’ will win the Oscar for best picture if Hollywood’s political preening contains even a scintilla of sincerity about speaking truth to power.” Executive producers Helen and Kerry Welsh, of Palos Verdes, are presenting a screening of the movie on Thursday, May 31 at 7:30 at the Peninsula Regal Promenade. Producers Ted and Courtney Balaker, who developed the movie while living in Redondo Beach, will be present at the screening. “Little Pink House,” tells the story of New London Connecticut resident Susette Kelo who sued her city in 1997 to prevent it from condemning her home for a development project by Pfizer Pharmaceutical. Kelso lost her case before the Supreme Court, but the case led to nationwide reforms in the use of eminent domain. Tickets are $12 and are available at Tug.com.
