Hundreds turned out to watch the King Harbor Yacht Club’s 2019 King Harbor Holiday Boat Parade from all across the Redondo Beach waterfront on Saturday, Dec. 14. Waterfront Education’s Terapin took home the top Sweepstakes award from a field of 14 participating boats. Mark Hansen, the organizing committee’s seemingly-tireless representative, attributed the smaller crowd of competitors to the rash of weekend storms that cut into boat decorating time.

“It’s something that everyone looks forward too every year, and we’re supportive of the yacht clubs involved down here,” said Redondo Beach Councilman Todd Loewenstein, who greeted the crowd during the parade on behalf of the City Council. “I always like seeing the different light arrangements, and how creative they are…and you see the same people every year which is great, it shows that Redondo is such a small town — everyone gets together and is in such a great mood. It’s something I look forward to each year.”
