Photowalk Las Vegas – where to get great Instagram shots

The Welcome to Las Vegas sign greets folks on the outskirts of town. By Jefferson Graham for the Photowalks series

If you live in Southern California, when you go out of town, you head to nearby places to get away, like San Diego, Santa Barbara and Las Vegas.

Vegas, as any weekend traveler on route 15 can attest to, is the most popular of them, attracting tens of millions every year, even in a pandemic, with its fantasyland mix of giant casinos, shows and sensory overload.

I’ve always been attracted to the otherworldly charm of the town, and have been visiting yearly for so long–let’s just say decades. I wrote an illustrated history of Vegas in the late 1980s, and returned recently with my camera for an episode of my Photowalks series. The challenge: show where to get the best Instagram shots of the desert, the hotels, the neon, the skyline. Along the way, I met up with my friend, the photographer Homer Liwag, to accompany him to explore out of the way, hidden Vegas gems.

I hope you’ll click the link above and check it out.

Viva Las Vegas, you know?
