Manhattan Beach experienced a spate of crimes between December 2 and 9, including three auto thefts, three residential burglaries and one commercial burglary, seven burglarized vehicles, and nine other various kinds of theft, ranging from catalytic convertors to stolen packages.

“The closer we get to the holidays, the more active criminals will be looking for easy targets of opportunity,” said MBPD Community Services Officer Christopher Ineguez. “This is clear not just based on what has happened in our city, but throughout Los Angeles County in general…MBPD patrol officers are proactively looking for criminals, and MBPD has added extra patrol for the holidays, however we still need your help as well. Remember if you see something say something. If something looks suspicious or doesn’t seem right, it probably is not.”

Ineguez suggested residents take safety measures, such as installation of burglary alarms and cameras, light timers inside homes; sharing information with neighbors, and agreeing to pick up each others packages when one of you is away; leave a spare key with a neighbor, not under a mat: keep all doors and windows locked and do not leave the garage opener where it can be accessed by potential criminals.
