Power estimated to return by noon to Manhattan Beach

A power outage that began around 7:15 p.m. Sunday night in Manhattan Beach left 463 customers still without electricity late Monday morning.

Southern California Edison estimated that those residents’ electricity would return by noon.

A total of 5,644 customers were initially affected in the area bordered by 45th Street, North Sepulveda Boulevard, 1st Street and Ocean Drive, according to Edison spokesperson Paul Netter.

A transformer went down at Poinsettia Avenue and 11th Street Sunday night, according to Manhattan Beach Police. Downtown and other areas were affected. The traffic signals on Rosecrans Avenue and Blanche Road in North Manhattan Beach and surrounding streets were also out.

Outages were also reported in Torrance and Rancho Palos Verdes Monday morning. No estimates were available for when the power would be back on. ER
