Rain can’t extinguish Manhattan Beach Holiday Lighting Tree Ceremony

Rain makes the Manhattan Beach pier shine during the annual Manhattan Beach Pier Lighting Wednesday evening, November 15.
Despite early evening rain, crowds filled downtown Manhattan Beach for its annual Holiday Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration on Wednesday, November 16. After children at Metlox Plaza told Santa their holiday wishes, the gathering of an estimated 1,000 people walked in the rain down to the pier to listen to the Manhattan Beach Middle School, and Mira Costa High choirs perform. Then, just in time for the tree lighting, the rain stopped. Throughout the evening local businesses treated residents to hot chocolate and cookies. And in the case of Skechers, hot chocolate, gingerbread man cookies, and clam chowder. The evening was presented by the Downtown Manhattan Beach Business Improvement District and the City of Manhattan Beach. ER
