Falconer James Androtte and his red tail hawk Mary were scaring away pigeons and seagulls from the Beach House Hotel on the Hermosa Beach Strand Monday morning when they stopped to talk with hotel guests and Hermosa Beach Police Officer Brent Zuber. Androtte caught Mary in the wild near Riverside and has been training the bird for about a year. He said pigeons and seagulls will flee at the site of Mary, but the crows that live in the palms in Noble Park, across from hotel, gather in groups, called a murder, and will harass any predator.
