March municipal elections set

Redondo Beach’s next municipal elections have been set for March 5, 2019.

City Council seats in Districts 3 and 5, currently held by Christian Horvath and Laura Emdee, will be up for reelection. City Clerk and City Treasurer positions, held by Eleanor Manzano and Steve Diels, are also up for grabs.

Two seats on the Redondo Beach Unified School Board, currently held by David Witkin and term-limited Anita Avrick, will be decided.

The election is planned to be an all-mailed ballot, with locations for ballot drop-off, but no polling places.

Campaign finance reform pushed back

The Redondo Beach City Council has again continued its discussion on setting campaign finance limits.

Councilman Todd Loewenstein had to leave the meeting by 9:30 p.m., forcing the council to hold the discussion until its Nov. 13 meeting.

This is the second time this election cycle that the Council has pushed back its campaign finance discussion.

Coincidentally, a clip from the 1993 Bill Murray movie “Groundhog Day” was on display in the Council chambers. Presumably, that will also be seen again next month.
