Bernie Leanos has been with Good Stuff Restaurants for 15 years. Starting in 1998 in the Hermosa and Manhattan location, he has since settled in at the Redondo Beach store.
“Bernie really takes ownership of his position,” said Cris Bennett, Good Stuff’s founder and owner. “He cares so much and it extends out to the customers and to his fellow employees.”
Leanos can be seen five days a week, bussing away through the busy morning rush, but will still stop to make sure the customers are being treated well.
“I’ve watched kids grow here, and I have made good relationships with the families that have been coming in over the years,” Leanos said.
The regulars at Good Stuff have had such an appreciation for Leanos that Bennett had bibs made that said, “I love Bernie.”
“I was surprised that all of them sold so quickly,” Leanos said, “Everyone has become like family to me.”
Leanos’ real family members are also a part of the Good Stuff staff. He has three cousins and a niece who are all a part of the Good Stuff family.
“It’s been a good 15 years, I’m getting old now,” Leanos says laughing. “But I’m ready for another 15.”
