People packed the Redondo Beach Pier on Sunday for the 39th Annual Festival of the Kite, a celebration of kites, yo-yos, jiu-jitsu, and the fine summery weather.
Hosted by the Redondo Pier Association, the festival attracted hundreds of kite enthusiasts, whose kites filled the seamless blue sky with color.
The festival also featured dance performances by local companies, a Hot Dog on a Stick eating contest, and the 9th annual yo-yo competition.

Yes, we know Easy Reader and EasyReaderNews.com are free. But they are not free to produce. The advertiser model that traditionally supported newspapers is fading away. This is our way of transitioning to a future where newspapers are supported by their readers. Which is as it should be. We hope you’ll support us. — Kevin Cody, Publisher
