SLICKFASTER: an assault on Rockabilly at the Redondo pier

SLICKFASTER rocks the Redondo Pier this Thursday night.
The Redondo Pier Association will be launching “Summer Nights on The Pier” in conjunction with the South Bay’s biggest free summer concert series, Summer of Music on The Redondo Beach Pier.  The featured artist on Thursday, July 7th is SLICKFASTER, a local South Bay rockabilly trio.  SLICKFASTER will have special guest, Danny Dean & the Rockabilly Rebels perform in the second set.

SLICKFASTER features Jerome David Urczyk on guitar & lead vocals, Chris Forrest on drums, and  Leticia Ann Loya — the sultry brunette vocalist with a voice that’ll slap the “doghouse” till you wince – on upright bass as well as backing vocals. If you know the way a Gretsch hollow body sounds through a Fender Bassman, you will agree, this is what Rockabilly sounds like, SLICKFASTER. The band describes their sound as “an assault on the Rockabilly music scene” and a “meld of root-5th/psychobilly/doom/country.

The annual Summer of Music festival is the biggest free summer concert series in the South Bay.  This year, the all-ages event will feature over 25 bands performing on the pier, over the water with a panoramic view of the Santa Monica Bay.  Featured performances include 80’s Tribute band on Saturday, July 9th, a 50-piece Air Force orchestra on Saturday, July 16th,  Brazilian artist Carla Hassett on August 13th, Roots Reggae band Souls of Love on Saturday, August 27th and Blues artist Artwork Jamal on September 3rd.
