Top four runners finish 10 seconds apart in 45th Annual Manhattan Beach 10K

Just 10 seconds separated the top four finishers in the 45th Annual Manhattan Beach 10K on Saturday.

Scottish native Andrew Barrington, 32, who competes in hill races with the Lochaber Athletic Club in Fort Williams Scotland, drew on his altitude training to win a sea level sprint to the finish at Manhattan Beach pier.

Barrington’s time of 33:37 was just two seconds ahead of Lance Capel, 28, of Torrance; seven seconds ahead of Jaden Milbrodt, of La Canada; and 10 seconds ahead of Ian Rusk, of La Habra.

Kelli Cabel, 28, of Torrance, won the women’s division, and finished 20th overall, in 36:14, half a minute ahead of Lindsay Wandzilak, 35, of Manhattan Beach. Erin Beresini, 39, of Redondo Beach, was third in 38:33.

Barrington and Cabel each received $250 for their top division finishes from Three Leaf Realty.

Since its funding 1978 the Manhattan Beach 10K has raised over $560,000 for Manhattan Beach schools and City of Manhattan Beach academic and athletic programs.
