Swimming: The South Bay Swim Team Junior Guard Prep Clinic will hold one-week sessions (February 11-15) from 5-5:45.p.m. and 5:45-6:30 p.m. Arrive 15 minutes early the first day for orientation. Clinics take place at the heated Hawthorne Pool, 12501 S. Inglewood Ave. and costs $85 payable via online registration. Instructed by Steve Hyde, South Bay Swim Team Coach with many years of JG and & Senior Team experience, each clinic will have 7-20 swimmers. Fundraising: Redondo Union’s baseball program is hosting a blood drive in honor of Eric Grace, the father of two RUHS baseball players, who had a successful heart and kidney transplant in December. Held Saturday, Feb. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the mobile unit will be behind the tennis courts near the baseball field. Donors receive a choice of Baskin-Robbins ice cream coupon or limited edition t-shirt along with a complimentary hot dog. Donors must be at least 17 years old. weigh at least 110 lbs. Beach Tennis: Manhattan Beach hosted its first ever ITF Beach Tennis Tournaments featuring players from around the country and abroad. Play Beach Tennis hosted the 4-day event. Women’s Pro Winners were the New York team of Nadia Johnston and Nicole Melch, who beat Carolina Hannes (France) and Krishna DeMoura (Los Angeles) for the title. Men’s Pro Winners were Ali Colmenares (Miami) and Carlitos Vignon (Venezuela) who triumphed over Marty Salokas (Hermosa Beach) and Paulo Santos (Brazil).

 

Running: Registration is open for the 16th Annual Village Runner St. Patrick’s Day 5K Run and Community Walk to be held at 8 a.m. Sunday, Mar. 17 in Redondo Beach’s Riviera Village. Following the 5K at 9:30 a.m. will be the kid’s Little Leprechaun Dash for Gold. All participants will receive a St. Patrick’s Day Run t-shirt. There will be age division awards and cash prizes to the top three overall male and female runners in the 5K run. Entry fees are $35 for adults and $30 for kids (add $5 after Feb. 13). Flag Football: Prank Monkey will be holding its Sunday Flag Football season from Feb. 10 – Apr. 7 at 10th and the Strand in Hermosa Beach. The 4-on-4 Coed league costs $280 per team. Games are played from 2:30-4:30 p.m. For more information, contact prankmonkeysports.com.

 

Yoga: Yoga on the Octagon at the Redondo Beach Pier is free for all levels. Held Wednesdays 6 – 7 p.m., 500 Fisherman’s Wharf, Redondo Beach (west end of the pier behind Tony’s). Bring a yoga mat, towel and water. Redondopier.com.
