PV fundraiser for scholarships

St. Francis Episcopal Church presents “2015 Designs for Dining,” Annual Fundraiser, benefiting the St. Francis Outreach Scholarship Program, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. This 2-day event on Friday and Saturday features entertaining ideas and 25 theme-table designs. Other highlights include guest speakers, boutiques, demonstrations, tastings, opportunity drawings and silent auction. Opportunity drawings include a catered dinner with wine for 12 prepared in your home or at Chez Melange by Chef Robert Bell and staff. Tickets for that dinner may be purchased in advance, and the special drawing will be held after Sunday services on March 1 at noon. The winner need not be present. Tickets for the event are $35 at the door. Refreshments will be served throughout the day and are included in the admission price.  St. Francis Church, 2200 Via Rosa in Palos Verdes Estates.

Juvenile diabetes fundraiser at Suzy’s

Tony’s Kids hosts its second annual benefit for juvenile diabetes from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday at Suzy’s Bar and Grill. The event includes live music, great food, raffles and prizes all for a great cause. Last year the event raised $4000–help this year’s benefit be even more successful. All ages welcome. Suzy’s Bar and Grill, 1141 Aviation Blvd in Hermosa Beach.

South Bay bike party

Join the South Bay Bike Coalition for its inaugural event on Saturday night from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Shade Hotel. The South Bay Bike Night is the only single-night fundraiser in Los Angeles for cycling. Funds raised will be used to buy bike helmets for children, fund bike education classes and promote bike safety. There will be an award ceremony, music and auction during the event. A $100 donation includes appetizers and drink tickets. Silent auction items include an overnight stay at the Bel Air Hotel, a bike from Hermosa Cyclery, 3-night stay at Santa Barbara Airstream and an afternoon of sailing. Eighties throwback at Saint Rocke

Wayward Sons perform at Saint Rocke Saturday night, bringing back power ballads of the eighties. The performance is a nostalgia-fueled, power-chord packed rock show featuring the greatest songs of the 1980s including hits from Journey, Queen, Styx, Bon Jovi, Foreigner and Van Halen. The members of Wayward Sons not only perform like it’s 1985, they live like it. Each has their own throw-back persona and they stay true to their character the whole performance. Show starts at 9 p.m., doors open at 6 .m. Tickets start at $13. Saint Rocke, 142 Pacific Coast Highway in Hermosa Beach.

Roller derby in Torrance

Beach Cities Roller Derby’s Allstar Team, the Riptide Rollers, are taking on the strong skaters of the San Diego Derby Dolls on Saturday Night. The game starts at 7 p.m. and the event is for all ages. Tickets are $10 and kids under 12 attend for free. Wilson Park hockey rink, 2400 Jefferson Street in Torrance.

Classical music in RPV

The South Bay Chamber Music Society presents Musicus at 3 p.m. at the Pacific Unitarian Church in Rancho Palos Verdes. The concert is free and includes world class musicians on violin, viola, cello, bass and piano. Pacific Unitarian Church, 5621 Montemalaga in Rancho Palos Verdes.

Mira Costa High art show

Several of the most talented AP Studio Art Seniors from Mira Costa High School have come together to create a collection of their best works. The pieces vary between 2D paintings and drawings. The exhibit, “Hard in da Paint”, is organized and curated by the students and showcases some of the best work Mira Costa has to offer. A reception will be held on March 3rd from 12:20 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. at the Mira Costa High School Art Gallery (Room 60). The exhibit will run through March 10. Mira Costa Art Gallery, 1401 Artesia Blvd. in Manhattan Beach.
