Spotlight on art – A Galvanizing art challenge

Thirty-five local artists selected by their peers were invited to be a part of an art challenge contrived by Peninsula Magazine arts and culture writer, Bondo Wyszpolski. The evening was hosted by La Venta Inn and sponsored by the Palos Verdes Library District, Peninsula Friends of the Library and New York Food Company. The artists spun a roulette wheel festooned with esoteric fortune cookie titles. After spinning the wheel and taking the title where the wheel stopped, the artists committed to painting their interpretation of the title. The results from the challenge will be displayed at La Venta Inn on March 15 and on view at the Malaga Cove Library from March 18 to 30. Bernard Fallon emceed the evening and Deborah Giese presided over “the wheel.”

Be an Easy Reader Free Press supporter!

Yes, we know Easy Reader and are free. But they are not free to produce. The advertiser model that traditionally supported newspapers is fading away. This is our way of transitioning to a future where newspapers are supported by their readers. Which is as it should be. We hope you’ll support us. — Kevin Cody, Publisher
