Spotlight on culture: PVPLD Friends of the Library Celebrate French Heritage

Moira and Dency Nelson, Teena Moody, Helene Godec, Merlin David, Christine Purcell and Joyce Stern.

Families and neighbors joined the Peninsula Friends of the Library to celebrate the joie de vivre of French heritage on July 21 in the Peninsula Center Library Community Room. The standing-room-only afternoon was facilitated by Peninsula mom and veterinarian Emilie Lanquetot, who shared experiences of a French mother raising American-born children. Hélène Godec shared her journey from French stage and television actress to life in America. Sharon Palmer, a current Palos Verdes Intermediate School dance instructor and former Can-can dancer at Knott’s Berry Farm’s Calico Saloon, taught the crowd French dancing techniques. Guests also  shared their French-American experiences. Earth Sweet Boutique provided French lavender sachets. Desserts were provided by Adore Cafe (formerly Desserts by Patrick), Black Flour Crepes and Petit Pot. For more information, pvldFRIENDS.org
