The Best Ways to Celebrate Christmas By the Beach! How to Have Some Fun in the Sun

When we think about Christmas, the sun, sand, and sea are the furthest things that spring to mind. In fact, it’s the opposite – when we picture the Christmas holidays, we often imagine warm evenings spent by the fireplace with a nice cup of cocoa, or we picture ourselves having a fun time blasting snowballs at our friends and loved ones! But as we all know, we can’t have it all in sunny California, so we have the next best thing – Christmas by the beach! Even if you’re in a warm, tropical clime, you can still celebrate the season in style – it’s just that instead of having a snowman at your front door, you can have a sandman, and instead of having eggnog and mulled wine, you can have a tropical spritzer. There are many ways to celebrate Christmas – even if you’re by the beach and having fun in the sun. Here’s how.

  • Replace the classic with the tropical

Who says your decorations need to be the classic and traditional? Since you live by the beach, you can fully embrace it by replacing your classic Christmas décor with tropical-inspired ones! For instance, instead of having the usual Christmas tree, why not have a palm tree or a coconut tree? You can even decorate it with fake starfish and seashells and hang up a string or fairy lights in clear or bright colors.

If you want, you can invite your neighbors and friends for a Christmas luau party, complete with tropical drinks such as pina Coladas or margaritas, and build your own sandcastle with Santa Claus kicking it back with a drink in a lounge chair! You can even have a barbecue and fairground games and stalls, and a funfair stall for hire provider can easily set it up for you to give everyone a tropical-inspired party in the middle of winter!

  • Have a blast

For a continuation of the beach festivities, be inspired by the food and drinks. Instead of bringing in the eggnog, replace it with champagne, and instead of serving some pudding, why not replace it with a pavlova? You can even replace the booze with some tropical shakes and smoothies and write down your holiday menu right on a surfboard for some extra creative fun.

When your party is at nighttime, now is the perfect time to have a bonfire! Your Christmas gathering wouldn’t be complete without one and don’t forget the marshmallows and graham biscuits to create your own s’mores. Just think about it – rather than gathering in front of a fireplace just as you would often do during the Christmas season, you can gather everyone around your firepit, enjoy the time together, swap stories, exchange precious gifts, and listen to some Christmas tunes on someone’s guitar.

Who needs frost and snow when you can have a Christmas celebration with sun and sand? You can still have a blast with the people you love on a tropical getaway –it’s no less magical and a new and novel way to celebrate the season, no matter where you are! After all, Christmas is not really how you celebrate it – it’s who you celebrate it with.
