Beach Tennis: Led by Donny Young, hometown players dominated the West Coast Beach Tennis Endless Summer tournament held in Hermosa Beach Aug. 23-24.

Young, of Hermosa Beach, and partner Sam Keeton (Santa Monica) defeated Eric Block (Hermosa Beach) and Ryan Lasilla (Santa Monica) to capture the Men’s Pro Doubles championship. While Hermosa Beach’s Katya Chirkina and Palos Verdes’ Randy Manning Dauchot defeated Monica Rojas (Long Beach) and Ginger Young (Hermosa Beach) for the Women’s Pro Doubles crown.

Young also won the Men’s Pro Singles title defeating Hermosa Beach’s Scott Worden and teamed with Marlene Brand (Inglewood) to capture the Pro Mixed championship by defeating Worden and Ginger Young.

The next tournament will be the Hermosa Beach Open with a purse of $10,000. The event will take place Friday through Sunday, Sept 26-28 at 14th Street and The Strand. For more information, visit westcoastbeachtennis.net.

Cycling: The Dave Richardson Race Series, an annual event sponsored by the Redondo Beach-based South Bay Wheelmen, will hold the first of 10 races on Sunday, Sept 14 at 8:30 a.m. at Telo Avenue in Torrance. The races are a mix of criteriums, road races, and time trials. Only South Bay Wheelmen members can race and riders must have a United States Cycling Federation license to participate. Volleyball:  The CBVA will be hosting the Campvolley Women’s A tournament on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Hermosa Beach Pier. Cost is $45 per team. For more information, visit cbva.com.

Smack Sportswear will be hosting its Fall Classic and Volleyball Class Reunion at Saturday, Sept. 13 on the south side of the Hermosa Beach Pier. Entries to the Coed 4’s beach volleyball tournament can be made as a team or as an individual. Check-in starts at 8:30 a.m. Games begin at 9:30 a.m. Prizes include Spalding Beach volleyballs, Smack boardshorts/bikinis, Dicks Sporting Goods and Sharkeez gift cards worth $50-100, free entries into Smackfest in July 2015 and a raffle for two Bud Light cruisers. Triathlon: Registration is open for the Day at the Beach Triathlon to be held at 7 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 12 in Hermosa Beach. The event includes a ¼ mile ocean swim, 10 mile bike and 3 mile run. A 1-hour swim clinic will be offered on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 8 a.m. at 10th Street in Hermosa Beach. Fees are $115 (individual) and $180 (relay). Add $10 after Aug. 31.
