Word on the street

The house special at Eat At Joe’s is “two biscuit halves with sausage patties smothered in country gravy, served with two eggs and home fries.” That alone, made it seem an unusual choice for the Beach Cities Health District to announce the launch of Vitality City last Thursday. But one of Vitality Cities goals is to change what people eat the 110 times a year that they dine out, on average.

Lara Dykstra named CIF Player of the Year

Redondo senior Lara Dykstra capped off her prep career with the CIF Division 1-AA Player of the Year award. Dykstra led the Sea Hawks to the championship match in both the CIF and Southern California Regional playoffs. Teammate Blake O’Brien and Mira Costa’s Emma White also earned All-CIF first team honors.
Mira Costa’s Jake Miller and Dana Tuttle were the only local players honored by the CIF in boys water polo as they were selected to the Division 3 first team.

Players without borders
