Golf: The Lakes at El Segundo is hosting the 2nd Annual Junior Golf-Fore-Life Day on Saturday, Mar. 19 from 12:30-3:30 p.m. SNAG games and challenges will be set up for kids ages 5-7, while kids ages 7-15 can participate in putting and short game contests for prizes. Beach Volleyball: The California Beach Volleyball Association (CBVA) will be holding a Mens Open tournament Sunday, Mar.13 at the Manhattan Beach Pier. On Sunday, Mar. 20 the Campsurf Mens B and Campvolley Womens AA and B tournaments will be held at the Hermosa Beach Pier.. For more information, visit cbva.com.

 

The Co-ed Volleyball on the Beach Leagues kick off the season on Tuesday nights starting Mar. 22 on the north side of the Hermosa Beach Pier.Four-person teams (two guys, two girls) play matches that run from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in a best 2 out of 3 format. Two weeks of playoffs follow the six-week season. There is a cap of 44 teams and individuals must contact Prank Monkey to be placed on a team for registration. Cost is $240 per team plus $5 per non-HB resident. Registration is available online at prankmonkey.org, at the Hermosa Beach Community Center, 710 Pier Ave. or by calling 310-318-0280. Baseball: Mira Costa will be holding a Spring Break Hitting Camp for 5-13 year olds Monday through Friday, Apr. 4-8. Run by Mustang coaches and players, the camp focuses on hitting but will also provides basic instruction in pitching, defense and baserunning. All campers get a camp shirt and daily snack. Junior High campers will be separated into an elite group and given an introduction to high school baseball practice. Cost is $250 for five day (daily rates available). Aquatics: Mira Costa High School Aquatics will be holding its 2016 Junior Lifeguard Conditioning Program beginning with the first of three sessions on March 21. The program focuses on training to pass the Jr. Lifeguard Swim Test and conditioning workouts for returning JGs. The three-week sessions are held at the Mira Costa pool and run Mon/Tues/Thurs Mar.21 – Apr. 14 (excluding Spring Break);  Apr. 18 – May 5 and May 9-26. Tennis: Registration is available for Mira Costa’s Spring Break Youth Tennis Camp to be held Monday through Friday, Apr. 4-8 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Open to boys and girls ages 8-14, the weekly fee of $225 includes a t-shirt and snacks (prices also available for 1-4 days). Fundraising: The Redondo Union Baseball program is holding a fundraiser sponsored by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. This fundraiser will raise $3,500 for the Redondo Union Baseball program and the varsity team will get to play a game at Angel Stadium on March 19. The program must sell 700 ticket vouchers to a regular season Angels game. The vouchers are $20 each and can be exchanged for one game ticket. Triathlon: Registration is open for the 12th annual Redondo Beach Triathlon, which will begin at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, June 12 at the Veteran’s Park/Pier area in Redondo Beach. All of the proceeds go to Cheer for Children, a non-profit organization that gives seasonal parties and raises money for acutely ill children at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. The USAT sanctioned scenic course event consists of a 1/2-mile swim, 6-mile bike, and 2-mile run. Space is limited to the first 600 entries. A non-competitive mini-sprint (half the distances) is also available. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each division and the top two relay teams. Sprint fees are $65 (ages 13-19 and 65 and older), $80 (ages 20-64), $115 (relay). Mini-sprint fees are $6 and $85 for the relay. Add $5 after Mar. 31. For more information, visit rbtriathlon.com.
