Children don’t just prefer smaller portions, they have a different sense of flavor from adults. This is why ordering appetizers doesn’t always work – the spicy sausage or bitter greens that you like MIGHT be less appealing to them. A children’s menu is a helpful amenity at places that serve families, but many only offer items more notable for sugar and fat than nutritive value. The Ocean Diner is different; along with the expected burger, spaghetti, and PB&J they have healthier options with whole wheat and fresh fruit included. The kids might want the Mickey Mouse pancakes instead, because they are kids after all, but both young and old can be glad there’s a bit more choice than usual.
