This one armed surfing thing is hard.
There’s barely any strength in my left shoulder, which was badly injured in February, so doing a left handed pop up to save my right is a little tough. Â Jose Barahona and I seem to have found the best way – start on my knees, and with a little push to sail me into a small wave, push up lightly with my left hand and get to my feet quickly, and fall or step off as gently as possible. Â Getting back on the board in the water is the hardest part.
I have another appointment with Dr. Scale tonight, and I’ll find out tomorrow if I in fact have a labral tear, or even a torn rotator cuff. Â All signs are pointing to one of the two, and if serious enough, my surf mission could indeed be over. Â But for now, I’ll get my three short waves and wait for the verdict.
