Land Rover relocates

The former Land Rover dealership that anchored the high-traffic intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Herondo Avenue has exited Hermosa Beach to merge with a Jaguar dealership in Torrance, at 3233 Pacific Coast Hwy. Until the move, which had been planned for months, the Hermosa dealership was the only location left in California that did not combine Land Rover sales with Jaguar, according to a woman who answered the phone at the Torrance facility. The two brands were originally part of the same British manufacturer but were spun off separately,, then reunited when Ford Motor Company purchased both in 2002. They were acquired by Tata Motors, an Indian company, in 2008.

Granny units ordinance

The Hermosa Beach Planning Commission will be meeting next Monday evening. The meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers, was rescheduled due to this week’s Greenbelt Infiltration Project Study session. Although the meeting’s agenda was not available at press time, commissioners asked staff at the previous meeting to return in June with an ordinance on accessory dwelling units. State law has voided the city’s existing ordinance until a new one is passed.
