Police have released an image captured from surveillance video of a man suspected in six armed robberies of convenience stores and gas stations in Los Angeles and Orange counties, including the Jan. 7 robbery of an ARCO gas station in Hermosa.
The suspect is described as white or Asian with a thin build and short, spiky hair, about 20 years old, standing 5-feet-8 and weighing 155 pounds, seen wearing blue jeans, a dark hooded sweatshirt, leather jacket and maroon bandana, and carrying a blue backpack.
During robberies the gunman places a bandana over his face as a mask, wields a black semi-automatic handgun, and drives a silver or white four-door car, possibly a Saturn, said Hermosa Beach Police Detective Mick Gaglia.
The gunman enters his target locations armed with a handgun and a blue backpack, and usually loads an entire cash-register drawer into the backpack, Gaglia said.
In Hermosa, the ARCO gas station on Pacific Coast Highway near the Community Center was struck shortly after 2 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7. Other robberies believed to be the work of the same man include those of an Arco station in Torrance and a 7-Eleven store in Manhattan Beach.
Police are urging anyone who might have information that could aid the investigation to contact Detective David Bohacik at 310-318-0330. ER
