Challengers to incumbent councilmembers Jennifer King and Betty Lin Peterson found favor with voters during Tuesday’s Palos Verde Estates elections. Michael Kemps campaigned on preserving parklands and finished first with 21 percent of the votes. Kemps is the founder and of Innovative Computing Systems. Retired Los Angeles Police Department Commander David McGowan and City Treasurer Victoria Lozzi finished second and third approximately 20 percent of the vote, to fill the three open seats.
