
It took 25 years, but Redondo’s girls claimed their first Bay League swimming title since 1994 last Friday.
There were a number of league records broken at the Bay League finals. In the girls 200 freestyle, Mira Costa’s Alexandra Crisera posted a new best with a time of 1:48.18.
In boys competition, Peninsula captured the title with Mira Costa and Redondo finishing second and third, respectively.
Mira Costa’s Kai Bathurst set new records in the 200 freestyle (1:39.12) and the 500 freestyle (4:28.03) while teammate Colin Le posted a league best time in the 100 backstroke (50.86).
Peninsula’s Ike Shirakata set two records winning the 100 fly (50.55) and the 200 IM (1:52.46) while the Panthers’ 200 freestyle relay team captured a new league record (1:27.72).
The Bay League (CIF-Southern Section Division 2) diving qualifiers kicked off competition Monday. The swimming prelims are set for Friday at 9 a.m. and the finals are Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Riverside Aquatics Complex.
