South Bay Community Calendar 8-1-19

Over 1,000 open water swimmers from around the world will participate in the Dwight Crum Pier-to-Pier Swim on Sunday, at 9 a.m. The signature event of the 57th Annual International Surf Festival starts at the Hermosa Pier and finishes at the Manhattan Beach Pier. The festival begins Friday with the Charlie Saikley Volleyball Tournament at the Manhattan Pier at 9 a.m. and the LA County Lifeguard Championships at 7:30 p.m. at the Hermosa pier. Saturday competitions include the R10 Paddleboard Race at Torrance Beach, body surfing at the Manhattan pier, surfing at the Hermosa pier and the Dick Fitzgerald 2-mile Run at the Hermosa Pier. The Southern California Lifeguard Championships are Saturday night at the Hermosa pier. Sunday events include the Velzy Stevens Paddleboard from the Manhattan to Hermosa pier, the Junior Six-Man Volleyball tournament and lifeguard dory and youth swim races at the Hermosa pier.
