Thanksgiving’s cold rain made the Hermosa Beach Kiwanis and Rotary halls feel even warmer than usual during the 35th Annual Absolutely Free Mama Liz Thanksgiving dinner. Thanks to the three dozen volunteers, many of whom are families who have volunteered for more than a decade, over 400 diners enjoyed a sit down turkey dinner. Berkshire Hathaway Realtor Donna Dawick organized  volunteers enlisted from among Easy Reader readers and rounded up cooked turkeys from fellow Berkshire Hathaway Realtors. Real Estate West Realtor Jonathan Coleman, of the band Abracadabra, organized local musicians who performed throughout the day. The Hoffman Murphy Real Estate Team donated pies. Hermosa Celebrations’ Sandy and Michael decorated the Kiwanis Hall with brightly colored, helium balloons. And chef Amy Johnson ran the kitchen. As in past years, Hermosa Kiwanis made their hall available for the diners and the neighboring Hermosa Rotary Club donated the use of its kitchen for carving the turkeys.Photos ER
