Local restaurant on T.V.

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay of Fox Television’s “Kitchen Nightmares” returns to Lido di Manhattan Ristorante, 1550 Rosecrans Ave., on an upcoming episode of the show, which, after a production delay, is scheduled to air 8 p.m. Friday, March 18.

The tough, no-nonsense, British chef best known for his food reality shows first visited the restaurant in 2009 after owner Lisa Hemmat wrote to producers upon a friend’s advice. With brutal honesty, Ramsay helps struggling restaurateurs transform restaurants from weak to chic on the show.

Hemmat gained attention from her episode which aired last March, titled “Young Girl Breaks Down,” on which she cried after she said Ramsay “steadily picked on her until she cracked.”

On the upcoming return episode, Ramsay will re-visit and review the restaurant. During the filming of the show, Manhattan Beach City Councilmember Wayne Powell presented Hemmat with a Certificate of Recognition on behalf of the city.

Powell said that Ramsay proclaimed the turn-around of the restaurant an outstanding success.

Lido will host a viewing party of the episode March 18 at 8 p.m. For more information, visit www.lidodimanhattan.com.
