The American Martyrs Parish Fair celebrates the parish’s 50th anniversary through today, Sunday, Oct. 17, culminating at 4:30 p.m with a raffle drawing for a new Toyota RAV 4 or $20,000 cash. The fair features the usual crafts, games and foot booths, live music and a beer and wine garden. But the fair’s biggest draw is the silent auction, in the gym. The usual ski (Deer Valley, Telluride) and wine country getaways are offered. But the most interesting auction items are at home, starting with dinner with Manhattan’s philosopher king, Monsignor John Barry, prepared by American Martyrs’s renaissance principal and master chef Kristopher Knowles.
For the high school football player with aspirations to play in the NFL, parishioner and Carolina Panther veteran Ryan Kalil is offering a football clinic with friend and seven-time Pro Bowler Luke Kuechly.
