King Harbor boat parade Saturday
The 29th annual King Harbor Yacht Club Holiday Boat Parade is Saturday, Dec. 11, beginning at 4:30 p.m. for paddlecraft, followed by larger boats at 5:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “Into the Lights” – a tribute to healthcare heroes.
The parade route runs through the harbor’s main channel.
The event follows a Christmas music concert on the Pier from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Community Emergency Response training offered
The Redondo Beach Fire Department is accepting applications for its Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Academy, to be held Jan. 6 through March 3, 2022.
Its purpose is to have a core group of trained individuals who are able to assist themselves, their families and neighbors in the event of a catastrophe. The training includes disaster preparedness, First Aid, CPR, disaster medical operations, fire suppression and damage assessment.
Cost is $40 for residents and $100 for non-residents. The fee includes manual CPR and First Aid certification.
Classes are Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., and one Saturday 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. The Academy is limited to the first 40 people who sign up. ER
RUHS bands to perform Dec. 16
The RUHS music department will put on a show of Christmas music Dec. 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
The evening includes performances from the jazz band, marching band and dance guard, symphonic band and wind ensemble. The fundraiser event is open to the public. Admission is $5.
American Legion Riders pancake breakfast Saturday
The American Legion Riders Chapter 184 will hold a pancake breakfast and meet-and-greet Saturday, Dec. 11, before the Army-Navy football game at the Legion Post, 412 Camino Real, Redondo Beach.
Cost is $7 for three pancakes, two sausages, orange juice and coffee. Seating begins hourly at 8 a.m., running until 11 a.m.
The Army-Navy game will be on screens indoor and outdoor at noon, with the canteen open.
