Patti Egerer

Services will be Saturday, April 17 for Patricia A. “Patti” Egerer of Hermosa Beach, who passed away April 3. She was 59. Egerer had addressed the City Council on numerous occasions, often expressing concern over aspects of Hermosa’s nightlife. Graveside service will be noon at Pacific Crest Cemetery, 2701 182nd St., Redondo Beach.

Actor honored

Actor Stuart Whitman, who co-starred with John Wayne in the film “The Comancheros” and played Marshal Jim Crown in the western TV series “Cimarron Strip,” will be inducted into the Cowboy Hall Of Fame in Oklahoma City, at the Western Heritage Museum on Saturday.

Whitman’s strong Hermosa connection includes sitting in on saxophone at the Lighthouse Café.

Whitman, 83, was known for playing rugged characters, making more than 200 appearances on TV and in movies. He was nominated for an Academy Award for best actor for his role as a man who intended to molest a child in the 1961 film “The Mark.”

History walk

The Hermosa Murals Project will hold its second annual “Walk in History,” featuring the Roaring 20s, 11 a.m. and again at noon Saturday, April 16 starting from the Community Center, Pier Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway. For more see www.hermosamurals.org.

Blood drive

Donors to a blood drive noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 17 at the Clark Building, 861 Valley Drive, will receive a ticket to The Comedy & Magic Club. The blood will go to the Providence Blood Donor Center.

CERT-ainly

The monthly meeting for Hermosa members of the CERT disaster response outfit is 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 19 at the Emergency Operations Center, 710 Pier Ave., located west of the gym. New volunteers are welcome. For more, email Janice Brittain at Misc98@yahoo.com.

Spic and span

On “Total Kiwanis One Day,” the service club and its sponsored youth clubs — Circle K, Key Club and Builders Clubs – cleaned up the hall at Hermosa Valley Park inside and out. More than 25 kids and young adults participated with more than 15 Hermosa Beach Kiwanis members. ER
