
Redondo’s girls track team will send a meet-high 17 individual qualifiers plus two relay teams to the CIF Southern Section Division 2 prelims Saturday at Moorpark High School, but it was Mira Costa sprinter Ashlee Dotson’s performance that highlighted the Bay League track and field finals held Friday at Mira Costa.
Dotson and Mustang teammate Camille Mills finished first and second on the 100 and 200. Dotson’s time of 12.52 in the 100-meters bested Mills’ mark of 12.61. In the 200, Dotson (25.58) beat Mills (26.48) before both teamed with Taylor Foland and Kirby Benson to win the 400 relay in 49.46.
Dotson anchored the Mira Costa 1,600 relay team with Claire Barnett, Foland and Charlotte Barnett to win with a time of 3:59.19.
Taylor Foland was a three-time winner capturing the 400 (1:00.63) in addition to the two relay victories. Aryn Foland placed third in a highly-competitive field in the 3,200 race with a time of 10:54.61. Also qualifying in the 3,200 for Mira Costa were Shannon Hagedorn (10:55.37), Kelli Sugimoto (11:03.26) and Savannah Pio (11:04.66).
Mira Costa hurdler Acacia Moore placed second in the 100h (16.18) and 300h (49.81) and Brittany Collins finished second in the discus with a throw of 106 feet, 11 inches.

While Redondo’s team had an impressive performance, Aundrea Yancy was the team’s lone winner, placing first in high jump at 5 feet, 2 inches. Yancy placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 25-10.5.
Ruby Davis placed second in the 200 (26.04) and third in the 100 (12.67) and Erin Smith finished third in the 400 (1:01.21) for the Sea Hawks.
Lyndsey Mull and Cara Ulizio placed second and third the 800 (2:21.14, 2:21.46) and the 1,600 (5:03.01, 5:03.98).
Laura Bush finished second in the 3,200 with a time of 10:53.16. Also qualifying for Redondo in the 3,200 were Rachel Bush (11:02.67) and Kelly Ryan (11:10.34).
In the long jump, Haley Miller and placed second and third, respectively, with jumps of 17-0 and 16-6.
Kayla Patterson placed third in the 300h (50.17), Jasmine Freeman finished third in the pole vault (10-0) and Nadia Basich took third in the shot put (30-5.5).
Redondo placed second in the 400 relay and third in the 1,600 relay.
In boys competition, Redondo had three athletes who were double winners. Christian Bassman finished first in the 100 (10.79), Derrick Duran captured the 400 (50.48) and placed third in the 200 (22.32) and Evan Malone-White won the 800 (2:02.15) and placed third in the 1,600 (4:21.86). All three runners joined Dezhan Bland to win the 1,600 relay.

Bland also finished second in the 800 (2:02.93) and the 1,600 (4:18.51).
Mahmoud Hassanyn won the triple jump at 43 feet, 6 inches while Max Niebergall (13-0) and Jonathan Ruiz (12-6) placed second and third in the pole vault.
Redondo throwers Taylor Bongiovanni and Samuel Ben-Amor placed second and third in both the shot put (46-3.5, 39-8) and the discus (135-6, 116-3).
The duo was no match for Mira Costa’s only boys double winner J.R. Tavai, who took top honors in the shot put with a toss of 53-0.5 and the discus with a hurl of 137-6.
Ryan Morrow was the other winner for the Mustangs, placing first in the pole vault with a height of 14 feet.
Kyle Hubbard ended the day with three second-place finishes in the 110h (15.43), 300h (40.25) and long jump (21-2). Dan Golubovic finished second in the high jump at 6-1 and Veit Tran was third in the triple jump (41-9).
Dylan Gates placed second in the 400 (51.82), Brett Douville was third in the 800 (2:03.06), Adam Perez placed third in the 3,200 (9:35.41) and the Mustangs finished second in the 1,600 relay with a time of 3:28.76. ER
