Hall of Fame induction ceremony

The 2023 CBVA Beach Volleyball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Saturday, November 4. Social hour 5 p.m. Food & refreshments for purchase. Shortly after, we will have a fun and educational Q&A session with Ron Lang, Jim Menges, Butch May, and Misty May-Treanor beginning at 6 p.m. Ceremony 7 p.m. Hermosa Beach Museum, 710 Pier Ave., Hermosa Beach. Dementia Care in the Digital Age

A two-part Beach Cities Health District workshop series that explores the transformative role of technology in enhancing safety and independence while caring for yourself or a loved one with dementia at home. FirstThursday ArtWalk

A very special 26th ArtWalk Anniversary celebration at the San Pedro WaterFront District. Juneteenth

Family walk

George F Canyon Guided Family Nature Preserve Walk with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy. You will be guided by a trained naturalist to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their canyon habitat with amazing views of the LA Basin. 10:30am. Colo-Rectal cancer networking group 

Cancer Support Community South Bay (CSC South Bay) offers this free networking group for those who have been diagnosed with colo-rectal cancer and their loved ones. Participants will share and learn from others who are going through a similar experience of their own. Facilitated by a licensed mental health professional, this group is for newly diagnosed and those in treatment, long-time survivors, caregivers, and family members. 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Join online group: CSCSouthBay.org and select the online calendar to attend a welcome orientation meeting. Suicide Prevention 

QPR Suicide Prevention Training helps individuals recognize warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade and refer someone to help. The training is aimed at equipping people with the knowledge and skills necessary to intervene and support someone who may be struggling with suicidal thoughts or behaviors.  4 – 6 p.m. Beach Cities Health District, 514 N. Lunch and learn: finish strong!

Cancer Support Community South Bay (CSC South Bay) offers this free in person and via zoom workshop led by Louisa Gravelle, a certified professional organizer. Tips to decrease stress and increase feelings of contentment will be presented. Participants will learn how to do less to achieve more and to focus and recharge. Lunch will be provided from 12:30 – 1 p.m to those attending in-person and the program will be from 1 – 1:45 p.m. 2601 Airport Dr., Ste. 100, Torrance. Soroptimist cash grant

Applications are now open for the Soroptimist Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women! Empowerment, education, and dreams can all become a reality for women who serve as the primary wage earners for their families and seek financial assistance to continue their education. Soroptimist International Manhattan Beach will award cash grants to qualified women applicants. The top recipient will then advance to other levels of the organization where they may receive up to $16,000 in additional cash grants. Eligibility requirements and applications are available at: soroptimist.org/lyda-apply. The application deadline is November 15.

Veterans breakfast

Join the Redondo Beach Lodge #1378 every 4th Sunday of the month for Veteran’s Pancake Breakfast. 8 – 11 a.m. Military Veterans dine for free. $12 per person. Children under 5 yrs. are free.
