Tyke hike

I love lasers

Laser fundamentals explained by Dr. Bradley Bobbs to be understandable to all, with jokes and entertaining stories, and a demonstration. Then hear about many of the more interesting lasers that Dr. Bobbs has encountered (or invented). Dr. Bobbs has a long career researching laser and electro-optical physics in the LA area, and was Adjunct Professor of Physics at Moorpark College and California Lutheran University. 1 – 3 p.m. Redondo Beach Library, 2nd floor meeting room, 303 N. Stitch & sew Redondo

People of all ages that sew, want to learn how to sew, or want to work on a project with fellow sewing enthusiasts. Alert!

Alert SouthBay, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS), will conduct a test of the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) capability for the South Bay Region at approximately 11:20 a.m. PST. The test aims to ensure that the systems continue to be effective means of warning the public about emergencies. Information about registering for emergency alerts: alertsouthbay.com

Virtual parent chat

The Families Connected Parent Chat support group is open to all South Bay parents and caregivers. Getting What You Need from Caregivers – via Zoom

Cancer Support Community South Bay (CSC South Bay) free workshop led by Aimee Sax, MSW. People may not always know how to help loved ones experiencing a health crisis and it is difficult for those needing care to ask for help. Discussion will include common pitfalls and some concrete ways to strengthen one’s support system to enable success for both caregiver and care receiver. 12 – 1 p.m. Join: CSCSouthBay.org and select the online calendar. Palliative misunderstood – via Zoom

Cancer Support Community South Bay (CSC South Bay) offers this free workshop led by Glen Komatsu, chief medical officer for Providence TrinityCare Hospice. Palliative care is often misunderstood and many people opt out due to misinformation.
