Historically, the South Bay Boardriders/Dive N’ Surf contest at Torrance Beach has had the best swag bags and worst waves of the annual SBBC seven-contest series. Dive N’ Surf is notoriously generous to surfers, and this year was no exception. Torrance Beach surf is notoriously stingy with waves, but this year was an exception. Remnants of the previous week’s storm surf provided contestants with overhead walls that contest surfers thrive on.

Over 150 surfers competed in 11 divisions on Saturday, January 6, including 31 in the highly competitive men’s open and 38 in the equally competitive juniors (18 and under) division.

Top results: Men’s open Karsten Wanke; Open Women Keani Honda-Snow; Juniors Dylan Morrisroe; Masters Jex McCartney; Legends Jiro Ikedo; Super Legends Ross Russell; Boys and Girls Kai Thomas; Groms Tanner Wixom; Micro Groms Timothy Keese; Micro Groms Assist Greyson Burrell.
