Redfield Winter Art Show

An exhibit by Peninsula artist Thomas Hunter Redfied will feature his plein air work, much of it painted along the Peninsula coastline. The exhibit will also include his painted cigar boxes, with scenes from his travels around the country. “Fresh Voices” Art exhibition

“Fresh Voices”, an art exhibition, will run from February 1 – April 7 at the offices of Winkworth Wealth Strategies, 27 Malaga Cove Plaza, Palos Verdes Estates. The show features oil paintings by Artists Deborah E. Giese, Susan Whiting, Julie Robinson, Jinha Kim, Ann Johnson, Oana Gamlowski, and Woodturning Artist Joe Devinny.  Opening reception on Sunday, February 25, 2 – 5 p.m. to meet the artists, enjoy the refreshments, music, and a raffle. The Bill Withers songbook at James Armstrong

Songwriters Hall of Fame and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Bill Withers had a number of hits spanning his short career, including “Ain’t No Sunshine” (1971), “Grandma’s Hands” (1971), “Lean on Me” (1972), “Lovely Day” (1977) and “Just the Two of Us” (1981). Dodgers’ Taylor polar plunge

A polar bear swim (no wetsuits) will be emceed by Access Hollywood host Mario Lopez and presented by Dodger Chris Taylor and his wife Mary at the Manhattan Beach. The swim benefits the CT3 Foundation, founded by the Taylors to support local families in need through partnerships with local non profits. Volunteer day Agua Amarga Reserve

Help PVPLC continue the habitat restoration work in Lunada Canyon at the Agua Amarga Nature Reserve. They will be removing non-native plants and/or planting coastal sage scrub habitat. 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Meet at the trailhead on Rock Park Dr. Street, and 6937 Kings Harbor Rd., Rancho Palos Verdes. Park along Rock Park Dr. and Kings Harbor Rd. Wear closed-toed shoes, bug spray, sun protection and be sure to bring drinking water and a snack. This event is moderately strenuous. All volunteers under 16 should be accompanied by an adult.

The Peninsula Symphony Association’s Edith Knox Young Artists Performance Competition features five young musician finalists. Each will perform an entire concerto with piano

accompaniment before a panel of judges. Placements for all five of the performers will be announced following the final performer, as soon as the judges have made their decisions. Abalone Cove nature walk

A guided tour of Abalone Cove led by the Los Serenos Docents. Hike past the unique native flora and fauna and explore the tide pools teeming with fascinating marine life. Moderate to strenuous. Hike is approximately a mile and involves about a 120 ft change in elevation. Kid-friendly hike but the trails and rocky beach are unsuitable for baby strollers. No dogs are allowed.
