In hopes of frustrating surfers at the Jimmy Miller Surf Festival on Sunday at 42nd Streetin Manhattan Beach, organizers added a finless alaia Tuna, shaped by Tom Wegener to the quiver of boards that competitors were allowed to ride. Competitors aren’t allowed to ride their own boards. But despite the reputation of finless boards being difficult to ride, the competitors who were “stuck” with the Tuna found themselves performing controlled slides and 360s  almost with ease.  Photos and Beverly Baird
