The John Hales Memorial Sand & Strand race takes place rain or shine. There will be the 2.5 and 5 mile runs plus three kids mini races. Fees are $30 for the 2.5 and 5 mile runs, $45 for both (Sand King/Sand Queen competition), and $15 for the kids’ races (race day fees go up by $5); proceeds benefit ProjectTouch. Course is sand to Longfellow, across to the Strand, south to7th Street, back to the sand and then finish at the Hermosa Pier. Race day signups and pre-race registration packet pickups begin at 6:30 a.m. at the Hermosa Pier. The 2.5 mile race starts at 8; 5 mile race at 9:30, and the kids’ races are at 10:30.
