An employee at Pats II Cocktails at 1312 S. Pacific Coast Highway was killed last night after denying two male patrons entrance to the bar shortly before 2 a.m.

According to police, a fight occurred between the still unnamed employee and the two unidentified patrons, possibly regarding the bar’s closing time. When officials responded the employee was lying on the sidewalk near the establishment unconscious but breathing. He was taken to the hospital where he died shortly thereafter from blunt force trauma.

The two suspects are described as Hispanics  in their early thirties. Police do not believe they knew the victim. Witnesses say one of the men had a ponytail. They fled shortly after the fight in a white 2003 white Audi with the California license plate 5DQM959. Police do not believe the incident is gang related.

“This is an ongoing investigation and we are still trying to locate the vehicle,” said Sgt. Fabian Saucedo. “We are not sure what started the altercation because it was so late but it may have been about last call or closing.”

A death  investigation is underway. Redondo Beach Police are requesting the public’s assistance with information regarding the fatal fight and the whereabouts of the two men suspected of participating in the fight. Call the RBPD tip line at 310-937-6685 or text 310-339-2362.
