Power in the south end of Redondo Beach is out, a Redondo Beach Police Department dispatcher confirmed around 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Police believe the outage is near Diamond Street and Catalina Avenue.

The dispatcher also said the police department is still trying to figure out what caused the outage. Southern California Edison has been notified about the black-out.

Police officers have been stationed at various intersections, directing traffic and adding temporary stop signs. RBPD advises drivers that when the power is out, always assume stop lights are four-way stops.

*UPDATE*

A Southern California Edison employee working at the Ocean Club on Emerald confirmed the power outage and said the “whole circuit” from 190th and Beryl to the Esplanade and Knob Hill went out around 1:45 p.m. By 3 p.m. most of the power was restored except for the Ocean Club, which the employee was currently trying to restore. He said that he didn’t know the reason for the outage, but would find out soon.
