More than 200 people showed up for the second week of a free 10-week free Zumba in the Park program last Tuesday to zig, zag and samba outside for better health. The free program, sponsored by the Center for Health and Fitness, the Beach Cities Health District, the Blue Zone Project and the City of Redondo Beach, will continue every Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Alta Vista Park’s Julia Field until September 11.

“I expected around 80 people,” Michael Shaw, Director of Communications for the Beach Cities Health District said. “Nearly 200 showed up. It’s happening every Tuesday and I expect a much larger crowd.”

Zumba, a high-energy, Latin-inspired group fitness class, combines music, dance and a cardio exercise to create a fun and healthy dance-party atmosphere. Alta Vista Park is located at 715 Julia Avenue in Redondo Beach. Visit www.facebook.com/beachcitieshealthdistrict for more information.
